“MOTHER’S EMBRACE: A collection of literary works for all Mothers that went through Labor to bring their children into the world”.

In this age of superheroes, let us not forget that we already have heroes among us, and they are called ‘MOTHERS’. All Hail the Good Mothers whether housewives or working moms! They are the Mighty Mothers or Superwomen. Nonetheless, Mother’s Day is not all roses, cards, and fine dining restaurants for some. This is not a day of joy for everyone. For some, there is Mother’s Day without a mother due to death. There is Mother’s Day, but the real mother has not been met or seen. McKinley Publishing Hub worked on collecting all these literary works to honour all our mothers who have sacrificed much in order for us to be who we are.

And there are many aspects of motherhood that go unrecognized. The alternative and atypical mothers are left out of the picture. So, we are here to recognize the Mothers in Name Only. Mothers who are losing a battle. Lost Mothers. Unknown Mothers. Single Mothers. Double Mothers. The Dad Mothers. Nurturing the Child of Another or a stranger. The Pseudo Mothers. Soon-to-be Mothers. We recognize the Un-mothered Children. Children raised without a mother. We recognize Children with Withholding Mothers. To whom should they go? Where else would they be? No one else with whom to rest. But in their MOTHER’S EMBRACE.

Ma. Jesusa “Margie” H. Estrada graduated from the University of Nueva Caceres, Naga City, Camarines Sur Philippines with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. A registered chemical engineer and a Civil Service Professional eligible. After graduation, she worked on a special project, NIA-BRBIDP in Magarao, Camarines Sur, and was assigned at the Materials Testing Laboratory. Later on, she was assigned to NIA-Baao and after the completion of the project she was offered a job at the Municipality of Calabanga, Office of the Mayor. After giving birth to her second son, she resigned from her job and her family transferred to Tiwi, Albay when her husband got a job at a multinational company (CHEVRON) as Well Test Supervisor. They decided to transfer back to Naga City because the Mayon Volcano was spewing ash, showing signs of eruption, and were concerned about the strong typhoons that hit Albay.

An admin of PhotoWorld, an international photography group since 2015, and moderator of K.A.T.H.A., a poetry group, and member of various photography, food, garden, and poetry groups, both locally and internationally, and received so many awards and recognitions.

Aside from poetry and photography, she loves music, nature, and plants. A loyal friend, a doting mom, and a God-fearing woman.

In those books, her poems ranged from the beauty of the Lilies of the Valley to the music of the Bowed Psaltery, to pondering the strain of carrying a jug atop your head. In Kathy Jo’s newest book, “Favorite Things In My World”, written for children of all ages, and the child in each of us, included is her fascination with bumble bees in “Bumble Bee,” a tribute to giraffes in “The Gamboling Giraffe,” and her affection for bunny rabbits in “I Love it So.” Take it from me, her poetry is pure magic.

Kathy Jo Bryant hails from the United States, originally from Texas, now residing in Missouri. She is a published author of Golden Glowing Mushroom, a poetry collection, available on Amazon. She is an avid genealogist, a member of a lineage society, and has authored a two-volume book on genealogy. She writes poetry on quite a number of subjects. Even though she has intermittently been writing poetry since youth, she has had a positive surge in writing, since joining quite a few poetry groups, within the last several years.

She has had her poetry accepted on The Sparrow, a recitative YouTube poetry group, Writings on the Wall, a YouTube poetry readings platform, Trending Poets, an elite media Facebook group by Alan Johnson, and Poetizerdotcom. Marilou Eureka Bianzon Robey is a Poet and an Artist from Kentucky, USA.

Eureka is the Vice President for Finance and Operations of McKinley Publishing Hub, and one of the publishers, project managers, editors, and layout artists of International Anthologies such as Saving the World One Poem at a Time, All I Want for Christmas, Hiling sa Pasko, I love You to the Moon and Back, Walang Forever, pero may Climate Change, and Mother’s Embrace.

She is the content creator of my-pen-and-soul.com, a website where she published almost a thousand of her written poems, and now is a platform featuring motivational poets, writers, and authors internationally, she is also the designer and developer of McKinley Publishing Hub’s official website.

Eureka was born on April 05th, 1985 in the Philippines, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and rendered her services as a registered nurse for years.

She pursued her career when she moved to UAE, a place where she discovered more about her passion for poetry. She became a columnist for Kabayan Weekly newspaper from 2012 to 2015 in Dubai where she published hundreds of her written poems in her column “Poem of View. Aside from her poems, Eureka wrote a few charity and pageantry articles such as “AID OF HOPE for Typhoon Yolanda Victims “Miss Africa Dubai, Mr & Ms. Middle East.

HARSH SHARMA is an author of adventure, romantic, spiritual, and inspirational poems. He earned a Bachelor and a Master of Arts degree in English Literature at Pandit Deendayal Upadhay Shekhawati University in Rajasthan. Harsh speaks Hindi, English, Bengali, and Nepali. He writes poems in English and in Hindi. Some of his Hindi poems were published in Dainik Bhaskar (a newspaper in India). His English Poems were published in international anthologies: The Metaphors of Life, and Warm Tea on a Rainy Day by Poetry Planet; and Saving the World One Poem at a Time, All I Want for Christmas and I Love You to the Moon and Back by McKinley Publishing Hub. When not writing, he can be found painting imagery, pondering over spirituality, chanting couplets (Mantras) of Vedas, and/or conducting writing workshops for youth. He was able to sell some of his artworks while in Varanasi, Uttar, Pradesh, and one was published in a Filipino anthology, Hiling Sa Pasko by McKinley Publishing Hub. He loves to read books about philosophy and astrology. His philosophical views are mostly evident in his poems. He believes that poetry can transform this world into heaven. He has lived in Kathmandu, Nepal during his childhood. He was born and is currently residing with his parents in Rajasthan, India.

JACQUELINE VILLOSO-VENTO is an author of adventure, fictional, romantic, spiritual, and inspirational poems. She graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Biology and has also acquired a Certificate in Teaching Proficiency at Philippine Normal University in Manila and is a Licensed Professional Teacher. She is currently taking up a Master of Arts in Education major in Science at President Ramon Magsaysay University in Iba, Zambales. She works for the Department of Education (DepEd) as a Junior High School Science Teacher based in La Paz National High School, San Narciso, Zambales. Some of her poems were published in international anthologies: Beautiful Verses, a multilingual anthology by the Progressive Literary and Cultural Society of India, The Metaphors of Life, and Warm Tea on a Rainy Day by Poetry Planet; Saving the World One Poem at a Time, All I Want for Christmas and I Love You to the Moon and Back by McKinley Publishing Hub; and two Filipino anthologies, Hiling Sa Araw ng Pasko and Walang Forever, Pero May Climate Change, also by McKinley Publishing Hub. She is also a contributor to the soon-to-be-published “Inked with Passion”. She is one of the administrators of two international poetry groups: Self Published x Movement and Global Poetic Legacy (where she is one of the group experts) and serves as a reviewer in another international poetry group: Chaucer’s Square. She is also a certified writer of DepEd Division-based Learning Activity Sheets and Guided Learning Activity Kits. She loves reading romantic, suspense, thriller, crime fiction, mystery, and conspiracy novels. She also reads the “classics” and the good books”. Message to the Readers

Everything is an invention of love. Elevate your soul towards the truth of love. Only true love is required from an uneasy soul. Always love inner beauty instead of outer one for your soul to survive. Outer glare is transient whereas inner charm is perpetual. A pure soul takes you to a pure relation. Hopes can just make you live on, it does not please you at all. So live in reality to live on. Be simple… Adopt simplicity as the base of your life. In addition, worldly glare will put you in a state of hallucinations and illusions. If we really consider the existence of the “Almighty”, then we are all equal mighties of the “Almighty”. Even if we’re distinct outwardly but inwardly we’re still even. We all are created with the same elements. We’re a homogeneous mixture of good and evil. None here is saintly, But souls are kept from all evils and devils.

We are made for Herculean tasks. Live in reality but with solemnity. Humans are mysterious, they don’t know about themselves which is really mysterious. All ways are complex until you befriend them. Your softness defeats the hard times. “Trees confront autumn every year, but they wait for spring, too. You are a magician & your endeavors are magics. Keep fluttering your arms like a laborious butterfly, indeed you’ll get a lawn of bliss. Flourish the flora of love by the drops of humanity. Keep a long distance from Wars and Crimes; they have been devastators of every era. No disparity in caste, creed, religion, tradition, racism will freely inspire you to love all. Love is peace of soul, it is as necessary as The Sun is in the universe. It will be gloomy around us without love. Be theist, stop blesphemy on and on. God doesn’t abandon you despite your hideous deeds.

We urge you to read our book that you might know how we love all the people around us and the world we live in. Pure love never fails.

BIRITERANG MAKATA. Beautiful poetry meets beautiful music, indeed. As poet-singer Ester Vargas said, she writes to inspire women of all walks of life. Her literary works aim to uplift the wounded. A house without music is like a poetry without a soul. BIRITERANG MAKATA brings home to readers, from any background, the realization that Filipinos love music and poetry, but we are really not known for our appreciation of our musicians and poets. You still have to be Regine Velasquez or Virgilio Almario to be noticed; but the musician in the corner, with a guitar in his hand, a can in his foot for percussion, and a harmomica in his mouth, we ignore; the father and son playing guitar and singing on the sound system on the footbridge. Ester is an inspiration to the ordinary Filipino musicians and poets who continues to dream, fight for life and succeed. BIRITERANG MAKATA is a work of a genius and one of the greatest poetry ever composed and published. Her own experience is seen in her writings. How she struggled, managed to turn the situation and be victorious in the end.

About the Author

ESTER VARGAS CASTILLO, a.k.a. Biriterang Makata was born in Cagay-an, Lepanto, Alegria, Cebu on August 10, 1971. She lives in Lapulapu City, Cebu. She is a migrant worker (OFW) in Dubai. Studied in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She worked for Ten (10) years as Assembler/ Marketing/ Accounts Executive in SHARP (Phils.) CORPORATION. A restaurateur and entrepreneur before she tried her luck in Dubai. A topnotcher in her Culinary Course and a Certified Caregiver.

The author is an Admin and one of the Founding Members of the Self Published x Movement (SPxM), the Advocacy Group of McKinley Publishing Hub. An honorary Admin to Horizons home for talented migrant workers in Hongkong and around the world. She is also Admin of the Bigkis ng Panitik Page, a group of elite poets whose plume was extraordinary.

She is a proud member of Kapanulat (Kapatid sa Panulat), Septon Poetry, Poetic Hearts, SSTT (Sari Saring Tulang Tagalog), Diwang Malaya, the Passion of Poetry, and Baybayin-Philippine National Writing System. She won numerous prestigious awards and certificates including Championship to various categories in Wricon (Writing Competition) with different poetry pages.

She is a choir member of FILSOC Chorale, the musical arm of the Filipino Social Club in Dubai. Her performances include:

But to her, she chooses to rather use it to build and create.
